What Is he Thinking??

What Guys Want Us To Know About Dating, Love, and Marriage.
By Rebecca St.James

This is a book written by Rebecca after she interviewed several men about their views on these topics.
The result is an honest look at how guys really see women and how they are attracted, or not, to them.
Although the interviews focus on single guys ages 20-35, Rebecca also includes words of wisdom from older mentors she respects who have been successfully married for years, such as her dad, life coach, and pastor.
The men share their thoughts on topics like how women can respect themselves and the men in their lives, modesty, purity, taking it slow, friendship, letting guys lead, and more. This book gives them the floor to say what they would really like women to know.
The men respond candidly to questions like:
  • What is the most attractive quality to you in a woman?
  • Is modesty truly attractive?
  • Is neediness a turn-off?
  • What do you find beautiful?
  • How can we be dependent on God for our identity, not on you?
  • How can we help you with boundaries physically?
Rebecca also discusses her own dating life, speaking openly about the single life, her struggle with loneliness, and her hope for the future. She challenges women to see the men in their lives as brothers in Christ and to trust God with their dating lives.
Although I am married, I found it insightful on how my husband sees me through a man's eyes. It is also a good book to share with my teenage daughter who is dating guys, and could benefit from the insights shared in the book.
It's nice to see that men care about inner beauty and character more than outer looks. Most of the men said communication and compassion are attractive in women, but vanity is the least of what they like in them.

  1. Comprehendible review, very nice. I truly think men are interesting creatures of their own, and so are we in God created to be together. Why we don't know what they always think, we can definitely get a couple of points of view from this boom, according to LLBC on Rebecca's book. Great review :)

  2. I read the first chapter....it's soooo so cal. The date ideas are shallow, and really, on a scale of 1-10 importance for attraction, guys say a 10? That's....discouraging. How many girls would rate themselves high enough to qualify for that?

  3. Thank you for your honest comment :)
At the end of the chapter, the box labeled'...Takeaways".. states that looks are only one component of attraction. They also are attracted by character, and who she is on the inside more than outer looks.
While not every idea will work for everyone, there are many good ideas to glean from the book.
    Thanks again,

  5. This is too weird. I wrote a comment, and it referenced my daughter, but when I hit post comment, I got a blue screen. When I came back on, there was a comment from her! Haha

Anyway, I would be interested to hear what Rebecca has to say. She had a positive influence in my daughter's life as a teen. This is a good topic for today. Thanks!
